The CCDMD is pleased to add a new website to its catalogue. PASS (Performance Assessment and Strategies for Success) is a resource for nursing teachers who wish to help their students succeed on written tests. It was designed by Antoinette Cocciolo and Sheila Cross, nursing teachers at Vanier College.
PASS has the following specific objectives:
- Adequately supporting students who are successful in the practical (clinical) evaluation of their course to help them succeed in their theoretical evaluation;
- Helping nursing students acquire the study and test-taking skills they need to successfully complete their program and their professional licensing exam;
- Providing teachers with a tool to create exams that are well structured, comprehensive and appropriately levelled.
The evaluation process consists of an assessment phase (Performance Assessment) and an intervention phase (Strategies for Success). The resource combines quantitative data analysis of test results and qualitative data on students’ study habits, learning styles, and other related aspects to develop individual action plans aimed at improving academic proficiency.
