Tutorat – se former à la relation d’aide par les pairs now online

January 21, 2015

Tutorat − Se former à la relation d’aide par les pairs has been added to the CCDMD catalogue. This website teaches student tutors-in-training to recognize the skills that are essential to good communications in helping relationships.

The site includes the following components:

  • Nine videos presenting communications situations in peer-helping relationships, focusing on the interactions between the helpers and the helpees
  • An observation sheet for each video that can be used by the student to analyze the situations observed and examine the various examples (and counter-examples) of skills demonstrated in the interactions
  • A coaching tool, the mosaïque des savoirs (skill mosaic), that summarizes the essential skills for good helping relationships and identifies the hard and soft skills shown in the behaviours observed in the videos

This extensive project was based on an original idea by Chantal Saint-Jarre, a teacher at Cégep de Saint-Laurent, and was developed by three CCDMD project managers: Dominique Fortier, Isabelle Dufour and Louise Comtois. Chantal Saint-Jarre, Marie-Christine Dancette, co-founder of the French help centre at Collège Ahuntsic, and Emmanuelle Jimenez, playwright, helped write the scripts. A long list of other contributors were also involved.

The videos were filmed at Cégep de Saint-Laurent. We want to note the enthusiastic participation of the students in the Dramatic Arts Department and their teachers, as well as the general support of the library coordinators and the French help centre, in addition to all the other staff members who assisted in the filming of the videos.
