Chimie pour l’inhalothérapie launched at Collège de Rosemont

November 11, 2014

The official launch of Chimie pour l’inhalothérapie took place on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Collège de Rosemont.

This respiratory therapy reference manual was written by Sophie Maheu, a teacher in the Chemistry Department at Collège de Rosemont, in collaboration with the CCDMD. This manual, with its very human teaching approach, is well-suited to teachers’ needs. The author enthusiastically presented her project to about 40 guests in attendance.

Until now, no other chemistry textbook reflected the professional realities that await graduating students. The respiratory therapy profession requires practitioners to be well-acquainted with many chemistry concepts. The author’s goal was therefore to “offer teachers and students a complete and structured presentation of the chemistry concepts essential to the practice of respiratory therapy.” The textbook is divided into four sections: solutions, general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry.

Collège de Rosemont is the only French-language CEGEP on the island of Montreal that offers the Respiratory Therapy Techniques program. Sophie Maheu’s book will help prepare students in the program for the job market in the health care industry.

The CCDMD thanks Collège de Rosemont for this successful launch!
